Rents range from $350 per week for a long-term boarding cabin room, with stays of up to two years. Rent amount is determined by the number of people staying in the cabin. The maximum number of people allowed in a cabin is three. These cabins have a very high occupancy rate, and rent includes power, water, shower, toilet and small kitchenette.
Fully Furnished Cabins
Nightly cost is $140 per night and these cabins come fully self-contained for emergency short stays of several nights at a time. These rooms include the same facilities as the normal Boarding House rooms, but also come with freeview TV, microwave, cooking elements, plates, cups, cutlery, cooking utensils, tea/coffee, fully furnished with heater, table and chairs, bunk beds, sheets, pillows and more. A full list of chattels is available here.
Move In Costs
For Boarding Cabin Rooms we require one weeks' rent in advance and one weeks' bond - typically $600 altogether.
For Fully Furnished Cabin Rooms we require payment in advance of the number of nights stay required, plus a security deposit.
Since Te Mahia Community Village is a Boarding House facility, 'House Rules' are put in place to make sure the Village operates in a smooth and safe manner. Any breach of these house rules could have consequences on tenants staying here, and may lead to immediate eviction as per Boarding House laws in the Residential Tenancies Act 1986.
The latest copy of the Village House Rules is available here.
